The RIVER is a perfect metaphor of RENEWAL and INSPIRATION. 
Rivers serve as the arteries of the earth, offering cleansing and sustenance to numerous lifeforms. 
They form fertile beds for the germination and growth of communities and civilizations. 
Rivers are ancient as the hills and never run dry - unless subjected to severe environmental abuse.

We speak of “the river of the water of life” in our ecstatic visions of Heaven on Earth. 
The River, as a dynamo and a revitalizing playground of the spirit, aptly embodies 
the essence of the Rainbow Tribe Community Arts Project known as MAGICK RIVER.
In directly experienceable terms, the living energy of MAGICK RIVER 
expresses itself in the perpetual dance of virginal WATER: 
the symbol of life, birth, joy, transformation, rebirth and healing.

The word “magick” relates to the power of the IMAGINATION - expressed 
through a harmonious marriage of Intellect and Intuition. Magick denotes the practical fusion of 
Art, Science, and Spiritual Wisdom, evoking the alchemist’s symbolic quest: 
to turn lead into gold, transmute the base into the noble. 
MAGICK is a fun word that suggests serendipity, spontaneity, creativity 
and productivity beyond all expectations.

MAGICK RIVER is a rainbow alliance of individuals with diverse talents, promoting 
ecospiritual activities and community arts projects that involve an Orang Asli (aboriginal) tribe 
of Peninsular Malaysia, the Temuan - who for countless generations have guarded the 
rainforests and sacred sites of Pertak, Ulu Selangor, their ancestral home.

FREE OUR RIVERS!
 

A 110-metre (400 ft) reservoir dam has been built across the beautiful Selangor River.
It will flood 600 hectares (1,500 acres) of rainforest, disrupt the Temuan's 
natural way of life, desecrate their sacred sites, and jeopardize the historic town of Kuala Kubu Bharu. 
On April 25, 2003, the dam began to fill and what was once a popular whitewater rafting river 
now reeks of death. 

Upstream of the dam, the Selangor River and its tributaries
are still as magnificent and wild as they have been for the last few hundred million years.
Where the rivers are free to flow, the landscape still looks like Tolkien's Rivendell. 
Where the waters have been impounded, it looks like a suburb of Saruman's Isengard.
Magick River is part of a consciousness-raising movement to outlaw ecologically disastrous 
and unnecessary dam projects, and thus keep our rivers forever free.
